Operating limits
How high, how fast, how far
- Altitude
- 400 feet above ground level. Higher only within a 400-foot radius of a structure, and no more than 400 feet above its top.
- Groundspeed
- 87 knots (100 miles per hour).
- Flight visibility
- At least 3 statute miles from the control station.
- Cloud clearance
- 500 feet below the cloud and 2,000 feet horizontally from the cloud.
- Aircraft weight
- Less than 55 pounds on takeoff, including everything on board or attached (107.3).
- Night and civil twilight
- Anti-collision lighting visible for at least 3 statute miles, with a flash rate sufficient to avoid a collision (107.29).
Deadlines
The calendar numbers
- 10 calendar days
- Report to the FAA after serious injury, loss of consciousness, or property damage over $500 (repair cost or fair market value), not counting the drone (107.9).
- 24 calendar months
- Recurrent knowledge: complete it within the previous 24 calendar months to keep flying as remote PIC (107.65).
- 30 days
- Notify the FAA of a change of permanent mailing address, or stop using the certificate (107.77).
- 120 calendar days
- A temporary remote pilot certificate is issued for up to 120 calendar days, until the permanent one arrives (107.64).
- 16 years old
- Minimum age for a remote pilot certificate (107.61).
- 3 years
- A drone registration certificate expires 3 years after issue unless renewed (48.100(c)).
- 8 hours · 0.04
- No flying within 8 hours of drinking alcohol, or with an alcohol concentration of 0.04 or more (91.17, applied by 107.27).
Operations over people
The four categories
- Category 1
- 0.55 pounds or less, with no exposed rotating parts that would lacerate skin.
- Category 2
- Injury below what 11 foot-pounds of kinetic energy would cause; declaration of compliance required.
- Category 3
- Injury below what 25 foot-pounds would cause; extra limits on where and over whom it flies.
- Category 4
- An airworthiness certificate issued under Part 21.
Sectional charts
Read the lines and the data block
- Class B
- Solid blue lines; altitudes in solid blue figures, last two zeros omitted.
- Class C
- Solid magenta lines; altitudes in solid magenta figures.
- Class D
- Blue dashed line. Part-time Class D carries a note; outside those hours it becomes Class E or G.
- Class E to the surface
- Magenta dashed line.
- Authorization
- Class B, C, D and the Class E surface area for an airport all need prior ATC authorization (107.41).
- Airport colors
- Towered airports and their data in blue; all others in magenta.
- Data block
- Elevation in feet MSL, then lighting, then the longest runway in hundreds of feet, then the CTAF marked with a circled C.
- MSL versus AGL
- Chart heights are MSL; obstacle heights above ground are in parentheses. Your 400-foot limit is AGL.

Study without an account
Accounts are optional. While signed out, your study progress, profile name, exam date, and look and theme preferences stay in this browser on this device. Progress and profile details are synced to the site's account database only after you sign in. Your look and theme preferences stay on this device. Clearing this site's browser data removes the device copy. If device storage is unavailable, progress lasts only in the current window.
What an account stores
When you create an account with a username and password, the site's database stores your username, a securely hashed password (using Argon2id, never your readable password), an account identifier, and the account creation time. When you choose Continue with Google instead, Google confirms who you are and sends the site only a Google account number; the database stores that number in place of a username and password, along with an account identifier and the creation time. The site does not ask Google for your email address, name, or photo, and Google's handling of your sign-in is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. When you sign in, it also stores and syncs your study progress, including drill and practice-exam results, review schedules, plan completions, game statistics, and your optional profile name and exam date. Progress records include update times so changes can sync across devices. Account data stays in the database until you delete your account.
Existing signed-out progress merges into your account when you first sign in. Signing out stops syncing but keeps the offline copy on that device. People with access to the same browser can see that copy.
What we do not collect
The app does not ask for or collect an email address for accounts. It has no advertising, analytics, or tracking scripts. We do not sell your data. Because there is no email address on your account, there is no email password recovery; a Google account has no password to lose.
Purchases
Lifetime access is sold by Privatae LLC and paid through Stripe. You enter your payment details on Stripe's own page; this site never receives your card number. Stripe collects the details it needs to process the payment and send your receipt, such as your email address and card information, under the Stripe Privacy Policy. When a payment succeeds, the site's database stores a purchase record: the Stripe checkout reference, the product, the amount, the currency, the time, and which account it unlocks. Your device also remembers that it has been unlocked.
If you delete your account, the purchase record is kept for financial and tax records but is no longer linked to any account.
Keeping accounts working
The account service temporarily holds your IP address and attempt times in memory to limit sign-up, login, and account-deletion attempts. It also keeps temporary session records in memory; these expire within 12 hours or when the service restarts. The browser keeps the session token in memory, not in its saved progress. The account service does not write request logs. Hosting infrastructure may separately process connection information to serve and protect the site.
If you use this app inside a Host, it can import earlier study settings from that Host's app storage. The Host manages those earlier copies separately.
Deleting your account
Sign in, open Settings using the gear button, and choose Delete account. Enter your username and current password to confirm. For a Google account, type DELETE; if you signed in more than 10 minutes ago, sign out and continue with Google again first. An internet connection is required. Once the service confirms deletion, your account row, hashed password, and all your progress and profile rows are removed from the site's database, and all account sessions are revoked. This cannot be undone.
Deletion does not remotely erase offline copies on your devices or earlier Host storage. Clear this site's browser data on each device to remove its offline copy; manage any earlier Host copies in that Host. We do not promise immediate removal from backups managed by the hosting provider.
Reporting a problem
The Contact link opens your email app. Nothing is sent automatically. If you send a report, your email provider and the recipient will receive your email address and whatever you include. Do not include your password or other private information.

A study aid
Fly Part 107 is a study aid. Practice questions are original content written for this app; they are not official FAA test questions. Chart excerpts come from FAA sectional charts, which the FAA publishes for public use.
Independent from the FAA and PSI
This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or PSI Services LLC. Practice charts are for training only and are never to be used for navigation.
Lifetime access
Most of the app is free. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase of $49 (US dollars) from Privatae LLC that unlocks full 60-question practice tests, unlimited Chart Trainer rounds, and unlimited Read the Question rounds on any device where you sign in to the account you used to buy it. It is not a subscription and never renews. "Lifetime" means for as long as this app is offered, including updates when the exam changes.
Because most of the app is free to use before you buy, all purchases are final and are not refundable. We will refund a duplicate or mistaken charge, or if the paid features do not work for you and we cannot fix the problem. Use the Contact link for either.
No guaranteed results
Passing practice exams does not guarantee a passing score or any particular result on the FAA knowledge test. Content is provided as-is, without a guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or availability.
